Pomodoro / Focus Cycle Timer
Set your focus length, short break, long break, how often the long break happens, and how many total cycles. Start and see the current phase.
Worked example
With a 25-minute focus phase and a 5-minute short break, checking the sequence at 26 minutes of total elapsed time shows the short break active with 4 minutes remaining, since the first 25 minutes belonged to focus and the following 1 falls inside the 5-minute break window. With cycles-before-long-break set to 4, that same setup reaching 120 minutes elapsed instead lands inside the long break, since the fourth focus cycle has just completed and triggers the longer break rather than a short one.
Common mistakes
- Assuming the long break happens after every focus cycle. It replaces the short break only once the stated number of cycles has completed.
- Expecting a trailing break after the final focus cycle. The sequence simply ends once the last configured cycle finishes.
Limitations
This is a browser-local utility with no background guarantee. It does not send a notification or keep running accurately once the tab is closed.
Frequently asked questions
- Does the sequence stop after the last focus cycle?
- Yes, there is no trailing break after the final focus cycle, since a break only exists to lead into the next cycle, and there is no next cycle after the last one.
- How does the timer decide between a short break and a long break?
- It counts completed focus cycles against the cycles-before-long-break setting, inserting the long break only when that count is reached, and a short break after every other completed cycle.
