How a calculation actually runs

A WhenMath page ships as plain static HTML with a script attached, and that script is what does the actual work. Typing a date, a time, or a duration into a form field never triggers a network request to fetch the answer. The math runs immediately, in the same browser tab, using the values already on the page. There is no round trip to check, and no server-side calculation endpoint exists for any of the 150 engines to call even if one wanted to.

What this site never asks for

No engine on WhenMath requires an account, a name, an email address, or a precise location to produce a result. A small number of tools that genuinely need a place (a sunrise/sunset or daylight calculation, for instance) ask only for a location or coordinates typed or selected by you, used solely inside that calculation, and never transmitted anywhere.

Local temporal rules that stay on your device

Some tools can remember a small set of contextual preferences locally, such as your workweek pattern, a default holiday region, a workday length, or a 12/24-hour preference, stored only in your browser's own local storage. Nothing is saved until you interact with a tool in a way that sets it, these settings are editable and clearable at any time from within the site, and none of them are required to run a calculation. Clearing your browser data or switching devices does not carry these settings with it.

Analytics that asks nothing of you

WhenMath tracks which pages get used through Google Analytics 4, wired to Google's Consent Mode v2 rather than a plain always-on tag. Visitors in the EU, EEA, UK, and Switzerland never receive an analytics cookie at all, so there is nothing for a banner to ask permission for. Everywhere else, a standard analytics cookie applies by default, but it switches off automatically the moment your browser broadcasts a Global Privacy Control signal, wherever you are. Advertising cookies and ad-personalization signals stay off unconditionally, in every region, with no exception. Whatever gets recorded is limited to which page loaded. The actual numbers you entered into a calculator never travel with it.

What the infrastructure layer sees

One layer sits underneath all of this and is entirely out of WhenMath's own hands. The hosting provider that actually serves each page logs ordinary connection details, an IP address and a request timestamp, the same way any web server does, for abuse prevention and uptime troubleshooting. That log has nothing to do with the Analytics section above and is not something this site configures or reads.
