How a calculation actually runs

When you use a WhenMath engine, the values you type are read by JavaScript running in your own browser, calculated there, and displayed there. They are not sent to a WhenMath server as part of producing a result. This is an architectural decision, not a policy layered on top of a different design: the site is built as static pages with client-side logic specifically so a date, a time, or a schedule detail has no reason to leave your device during normal use.

What this site never asks for

No engine on WhenMath requires an account, a name, an email address, or a precise location to produce a result. A small number of tools that genuinely need a place (a sunrise/sunset or daylight calculation, for instance) ask only for a location or coordinates typed or selected by you, used solely inside that calculation, and never transmitted anywhere.

Local Temporal Rules: what stays on your device

Some tools can remember a small set of contextual preferences locally, such as your workweek pattern, a default holiday region, a workday length, or a 12/24-hour preference, stored only in your browser's own local storage. Nothing is saved until you interact with a tool in a way that sets it, these settings are editable and clearable at any time from within the site, and none of them are required to run a calculation. Clearing your browser data or switching devices does not carry these settings with it.

Analytics: configured to ask nothing of you

Where enabled, WhenMath uses Google Analytics 4 with Google's Consent Mode v2 to understand which tools are useful. In the EU, EEA, UK, and Switzerland, analytics runs cookieless by default: no analytics cookie is set, and because there is nothing being stored, no consent banner is shown or needed. Outside those regions, a standard analytics cookie is used unless your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, in which case analytics storage is denied automatically regardless of region. No advertising cookie, ad-personalization signal, or other advertising feature is ever enabled, anywhere. An analytics event never includes the date, time, or schedule values you type into a calculation, only anonymous interaction data such as which engine page was viewed.

Hosting logs and contact

Like most websites, WhenMath's hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and request timing) for security and reliability, independent of the analytics described above.
