Installment Payment Schedule Generator
Generate a fixed number of installment dates and amounts from a start date, a weekly, biweekly, or monthly cadence, and a total amount. Any leftover cent from an uneven split lands on the final installment so the total always reconciles exactly.
Worked example
Three monthly installments of 100.00 each, starting January 31, land on January 31, February 28, and March 31, using the same month-end constrain rule covered in the calendar math resources, since February has no 31st day for the second installment to land on exactly. A total of 10.00 split three ways in cents comes to 333, 333, and 334 cents rather than an equal 333.33 repeating split, since currency has to resolve to whole cents, and the one extra cent from the division always lands on the final installment so the three payments add back up to exactly 10.00 with nothing lost to rounding.
Common mistakes
- Expecting every installment to be identical in amount. Whenever the total does not divide evenly, the final installment absorbs the small remainder so the schedule reconciles exactly.
- Choosing a monthly cadence starting on the 29th, 30th, or 31st without checking how a shorter target month resolves. The constrain rule always lands on that month's own last real day rather than overflowing into the next month.
Limitations
This generates a plain, fixed-count schedule only. It does not calculate interest, finance charges, or any payment plan terms beyond the stated cadence and total, and it makes no lending or credit determination of any kind.
Frequently asked questions
- Can installments fall on weekends?
- Yes, this schedules by calendar date only and does not shift a date that lands on a weekend, since not every installment plan treats weekends specially.
- What is the maximum number of installments?
- Fifty, which keeps the generated schedule bounded and easy to review in full on one page.
