WhenMathElapsed / Remaining Time Calculator
Set a target date, time, and time zone, and watch a live count of the time remaining until it, or elapsed since it if it has already passed. The count is recalculated from your device's clock, not incremented, so it stays accurate even after the tab has been backgrounded.
Worked example
If the current moment is 2027-06-01 12:00:00 UTC and the target is 15:30 UTC that same day, the live count shows 3 hours 30 minutes remaining, ticking down. If the target were 09:00 UTC instead, already 3 hours in the past, the count shows 3 hours elapsed and continues counting up.
How the live count stays accurate
Rather than incrementing a stored number once a second (which drifts if the browser throttles a background tab), this calculator re-reads the actual clock and recalculates the remaining or elapsed duration from scratch on every tick, and again immediately when the tab becomes visible again after being hidden.
Limitations
This does not send a notification or alarm when the target arrives; it must stay open in a visible tab to show a live count. It is a planning tool, not a scheduling or reminder system.

- No, this site never prompts for notification permission automatically; the count simply switches from "remaining" to "elapsed" when the target passes.
- Does it keep counting accurately if I switch tabs?
- Yes, it recalculates from the real clock the moment you return to the tab, rather than drifting.
