Weekly / Biweekly Schedule Generator
Pick which weekdays recur and how many weeks apart (1 for weekly, 2 for biweekly, and so on). See the generated schedule.
Worked example
A weekly rule for Monday, starting January 1, 2027, a Friday, generates its first occurrence on January 4, the next real Monday on or after the start date, then every following Monday after that at a one-week interval. Switch the interval to 2 instead of 1 and the same rule becomes biweekly, generating January 4, then skipping ahead to January 18 rather than the following Monday, since the second Monday in the sequence is deliberately skipped under a two-week cadence. Select both Monday and Thursday together on a weekly interval, and the generator produces two occurrences most weeks, one for each selected weekday, correctly interleaved in date order rather than grouped by weekday.
Common mistakes
- Assuming the interval counts from the date of the first generated occurrence. It actually counts whole weeks starting from the week that contains the entered start date, which can shift which week counts as week one of the pattern.
- Selecting no weekdays at all, which produces an empty schedule rather than a default weekday being assumed on your behalf.
Limitations
The generated preview is bounded to 500 occurrences or 5 years, whichever limit comes first, which keeps the schedule fast to generate and practical to review in full.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I select multiple weekdays at once?
- Yes, for example Monday and Thursday together, both repeating on the same weekly or biweekly cadence you set.
- How does the interval count weeks for a biweekly rule?
- It counts whole weeks starting from the week that contains the entered start date, not from the date of the first generated occurrence itself, so shifting the start date within the same week does not change the cadence.
