Life Date Interval Calculator
Enter as many named dates as you like (started a job, got married, moved house). See them sorted into a timeline, with the day-count gap between each consecutive pair.
Worked example
"Got married" (2018-06-15), "Started job" (2020-01-01), and "Moved house" (2022-03-01), entered in any order at all, sort chronologically into that same sequence and show a gap of 565 days between the wedding and the new job, then a separate gap of 790 days between the new job and the move. Add a fourth entry dated earlier than all three, like "Graduated" (2016-05-20), and the whole timeline re-sorts automatically to place it first, recalculating every gap around its new position rather than simply appending it to the end.
Common mistakes
- Entering dates in the order they come to mind rather than letting the calculator sort them chronologically. The gaps are always reported in date order, never entry order.
- Expecting a gap between two non-adjacent entries, like the first and the third. Only the gap between each consecutive pair in the sorted timeline is reported.
Limitations
This plans up to 100 named dates in a single timeline. It does not store or remember anything between visits, so the same list needs to be re-entered each time.
Frequently asked questions
- Can two dates be the same?
- Yes, that particular gap is simply reported as zero days rather than being treated as an error.
- What happens if two entries share the exact same date?
- They stay adjacent to each other in the sorted timeline with a zero-day gap between them, and the calculation continues normally for every other pair.
