Business-Day Midpoint Calculator

Find the working day exactly halfway through a range of business days.

Need more than one split point? See Business-Day Range Splitter.

Worked example

Five business days, Monday through Friday of one week, have a single middle day, the third one, Wednesday, since an odd count always centers cleanly on one date. Extend that same range to six business days instead, running through the following Monday, and the midpoint becomes two candidate days rather than one, since an even count has no single date sitting exactly in the center.

Common mistakes

  • Expecting a single midpoint date for every range. An even number of business days genuinely produces two middle days, not one.
  • Assuming a holiday is automatically excluded from the count. Only the selected workweek pattern is applied, so a specific holiday date needs to be entered as an exclusion separately.

Limitations

This checks the selected workweek only, with no holiday preset applied automatically. A range that needs a specific holiday calendar excluded should use the Holiday Impact Calculator instead.

Frequently asked questions

What if there are no business days in the range?
The calculator states that plainly rather than returning an invalid date or a misleading fallback value.
Does this account for holidays automatically?
No, it checks the selected workweek only. Add specific dates as exclusions if a holiday needs to be removed from the range being split.
