Fiscal Quarter Calculator
Map a date to a fiscal quarter for a fiscal year that starts in any month you choose, with an explicit choice of how the fiscal year itself gets labeled.
Worked example
With a fiscal year starting in April, March 31, 2027 falls in the fiscal year that runs April 2026 through March 2027, which is fiscal Q4 (the January-March block). Labeled by the year it starts in, that's FY2026. Labeled by the year it ends in, the same fiscal year is FY2027. Neither label is more correct; organizations genuinely differ on which convention they use, which is exactly why this engine makes the choice explicit rather than assuming one.
Limitations
This maps a date to a fiscal quarter using the convention you specify; it does not know which convention your specific employer or organization actually uses.
Frequently asked questions
- Which labeling convention is standard?
- Both are genuinely used in practice; check your organization's own fiscal calendar to know which one it applies.
